Day One: Special(e) Olympics - Continued

Maybe 20 miles later, the Kaiser Special's rather smoky exhaust started to clear up. Shortly thereafter we rolled to a stop. Duff smelled fuel, and the oil pressure started to dip. At this point, the epoxy started to fail also.
Max Heim and Gary stopped, and lent some oil to the effort. The fuel leak was quickly dealt with, and we hit the road. With oil in the sump, the smoky exhaust returned.

10 miles up the road, the epoxy totally let go. Raylene practices her "I don't know about you fools, but I'm going to get the hell out of here" moves.

At this point, to relieve the pressure Duff tied a towel over the opening in an attempt to limp ahead without pressurizing the system. As we tied the towel in place, a tow truck passed with an International Scout on the hook behind it. We joked "I bet that's got a radiator that would work in it."
Duff limped the Kaiser Special to the Pope Valley Junkyard. This is where things really got good. The proprietor barked gruffly "You need a radiator for that junk?" and pointed to my Sprint Speciale... It turned out that the International Scout we'd seen had just been dropped off... and thankfully my foreign junk was still running.
A Special, the "foreign junk" Speciale, and piles of junk.

Duff started in on removing the Special Radiator, I started in on the Hantavirus Scout radiator. The entire engine was covered in rodent droppings. Sweet!

Seemed like a good place for a picnic!
Oh yeah, it just keeps getting better - Woah, still more Special(e) Olympics
